Peace coming to Houston

Our dear friend Peace from the country of Burundi in Central Africa is coming to visit us this week, Saturday-Friday.  We have her lined up with quite a few meetings to share what God is doing in Central Africa mainly the countries of Rwanda and Burundi.  Diane and I will be leading a team of 8 to Rwanda and Burundi April 4-15, 2008 to do ministry with the various projects that she is working with.  Most of the work is with widows and orphans for the genocide of 1993. Many of you might know about the genocide that took place in Rwanda (the movie Hotel Rwanda and Beyond the Gates).  Rwanda and Burundi used to be the same country before the colonization of Africa in the 1950-60's and usually what happens in Rwanda will carry down to Burundi as well due to the influence of tribes in these 2 countries.  Burundi is now considered the poorest country in the world, the average wage for a good job is $.87 cents per day and remember this is to feed and care for a family of 5-10 people.  Peace and her volunteers are working to train these ladies in dress making and hair styling so that they can make a living to take care of their families.  many have HIV/AIDS so that brings a whole different dimension to their situations.  Please pray for her this week.
